My wife and I have built 3 houses over the last 10 years with three different builders. Scott was by far the most professional, timely and committed builder we’ve worked with. Our project started with a builder who went out of business toward the beginning of our build. Scott had to come in and pick up where they left off and build the house. He did so while making it look effortless. Our other builders always had excuses why work wasn’t getting done or why we couldn’t do something we dreamed up. Scott always had the job done when he said he would and how he said he would. He never once told me or my wife he couldn’t do something. If it was something completely unique, he would say “send me a picture of what you want and we’ll get it done”. Even after our build was complete, Scott still answers his phone and text messages when I need to contact him. Most builders will dodge your calls after you’re done paying them. Scott and his team are now the builders we recommend to family and friends.

We recently completed our forever Home with Scott Britton Construction (SBC) and we’re very pleased with our overall experience and the final construction results. Our story starts with retirement to NE Tennessee, and our search for a high-quality Custom Builder accustomed to challenging home plans, unique features, and attention to detail. Over time, we’ve moved and built 5 Custom homes all over America so our expectations and experience with the construction process, and various Builders, is high. We are far from experts; but we have learned a lot of “do’s and don’ts” over the years, with most lessons-learned the hard way. Our biggest learning is to do your homework and research first, and then dig deep, before trusting any Builder. Because we had time to invest, we took a deliberate approach interviewing Builders and looking for someone to trust.
After a few months, and several Builder conversations, we selected SBC and began construction. Our decision to use SBC was based upon our unique needs and Scott’s willingness to discuss and understand those needs. Scott also provided an incredible amount of transparency by providing Customer references to homes he has completed and/or access to those currently under construction. We also appreciated Scott’s straight-forward approach in sharing his expectations of us so that everyone involved stayed on the same page.
Throughout our build, Scott kept us updated on progress and/or challenges we needed to provide input on. Scott, and his Sub-Contractors, routinely provided ideas and suggestions that improved our plans and overall cost and/or quality without negatively affecting completion timing. We routinely visited the job site and consistently found the overall area to be clean and safe even though multiple Skilled Trades were working. If questions arose Scott would answer them directly or, if the answer involved a Sub-Contractor, he would schedule time to discuss and resolve the issue. If a problem was identified Scott and the appropriate Contractor(s) worked collaboratively with us to efficiently resolve concern to our satisfaction. A real test for any Builders commitment is their ability to remain open and fair when things go wrong…. and they always do. Scott, and everyone at SBC, was outstanding at staying focused on resolving problems and did not engage in a blame-game or “that’s out of my control” to avoid responsibility. Without exception SBC, and Scott as an individual, never became confrontational and always stayed focused on resolving the concern regardless of who got charged.
Our future does not include another Home but, if we do build again, our first and only stop will be with Scott Britton Construction.
